    • ” MODESTO, Calif. – February 9, 2024 – The Save Mart Companies has recalled all lot and date codes of Chicken Street Taco Kits sold in Save Mart, Lucky, and Lucky California store service delis, as they include a cup of crema sauce containing cotija cheese produced and recalled by Rizo-Lopez Foods. These kits have been recalled due to concerns the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.” 1

    • “The Perfect Bite Co. of 747 W. Wilson Ave, Glendale, CA, is voluntarily recalling its MEXICAN STYLE STREET CORN BITE, which contains Cotija Cheese, due to the possible presence of Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The Cotija Cheese used in this product was manufactured by Rizo-Lopez Foods, Inc. On February 5, 2024, Rizo-Lopez initiated a recall on all lots of Cotija Cheese.” 2

    • “Soledad, Calif., – February 9, 2024 – Braga Fresh is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Marketside Bacon Ranch Crunch Chopped Salad Kits containing recalled cheese that contains Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
    • The product is being recalled due to a sourced cheese ingredient having possible cross-contamination with recalled Cotija Cheese by Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc. with an active recall and outbreak investigation. 5

(February 9, 2024) – Fresh & Ready Foods is voluntarily recalling four torta sandwiches that contain cotija cheese which were sold in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. This voluntary recall is being initiated as a result of the Rizo-López Foods, Inc. recall of cotija cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes and associated with an outbreak the FDA is currently investigating.” 6

    • “The recall was initiated after a consumer reported finding a walnut in a Zingerman’s Bakehouse Black Magic Brownie, Individually Packaged which did not list walnut on label. Investigation into the source of the walnut is ongoing.” 7

    • “February 8, 2024, Orlando, FL – As a consequence of a recall initiated by a cheese supplier, Rizo-Lopez Foods, Inc., Fresh Express is voluntarily recalling two salad kits with condiment packs that contain the recalled cheese, which may pose a potential health risk from Listeria monocytogenes.” 8

    • “BOISE, Idaho — Feb. 8, 2024 — Albertsons Companies has voluntarily recalled five ReadyMeals and store-made taco kits supplied by Fresh Creative Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes The select meals and kits contain a recalled cheese ingredient supplied by Rizo-López Foods, Inc., of Modesto, California.” 9

    • “Irvington, New York (February 8, 2024) –– In response to a voluntary recall initiated by Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc. who produces and supplies cheese products, BrightFarms is voluntarily recalling its Southwest Chipotle salad kit with best-by-dates between 12/31/23 and 2/22/24 due to potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes in the Cotija Cheese, an ingredient found in the salad kit.” 11

    • “Trader Joe’s of Monrovia, CA is recalling certain products containing cotija cheese, as the cheese used to make these products has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriage and stillbirths among pregnant women.
    • The cotija cheese that was used to produce the products below was manufactured by Rizo-López Foods, Inc. On 2/5/2024, Rio- López Foods initiated a recall of dairy items, including cotija cheese, under multiple brand names. As a result, Trader Joe’s is recalling all codes of the products listed below that were manufactured with cotija cheese. 12

    • “IRWINDALE, Calif., February 8, 2024 — With the safety of its consumers being a top priority Ready Pac Foods, Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall of a limited number of cases of four salad kits as a result of the expanded recall by Rizo-López Foods of certain cheese products that may have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.” 13

    • “BUENA PARK, Calif., Feb. 7, 2024 – Simply Fresh LLC. is voluntarily recalling its Rojo’s Black Bean 6 Layer Dip 2-20oz Club Pack. This voluntary recall is being initiated as a result of the Rizo Lopez Foods Inc. recall of cotija cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Simply Fresh used the recalled cotija cheese from Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc. in the Rojos Black Bean Layer Dips with the date codes listed in the table below. This recall only impacts the items pictured below. The product is sold only at Costco.” 14

    • “Richelieu Foods Inc. Wheeling Illinois has voluntarily recalled the 365 Whole Foods Market Vegan Ultimate Veggie Thin Crust Pizza, LOT CODE 06152024 with a best by date of 6/15/2024 because it may contain trace amounts of an undeclared Milk allergen. People who have allergies to Milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.” 15

  • 2/5/24 – Drugs – Sustain and Schwinnng brand male enhancement capsules – Products contain undeclared Tadalafil and Nortadalafil.
    • “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 2, 2024 – VANCOUVER, WA, “Today The World” is voluntarily recalling two lots of Sustain herbal dietary supplement capsules and one lot of Schwinnng capsules to the consumer level. FDA analysis has found the products to contain undeclared Tadalafil and Nortadalafil (structurally similar to Tadalafil). Tadalafil and Nortadalafil are active drug ingredients known for treatment of male erectile dysfunction. The presence of Tadalafil and Nortadalafil in Sustain capsules and Schwinnng capsules makes them unapproved new drugs for which the safety and efficacy have not been established and, therefore subject to recall.” 18

    • “In direct response to the Nurse Assist, LLC voluntary product recall (which included products supplied to Cardinal Health used in Covidien and Cardinal Health™ brand kits and trays), Cardinal Health issued a medical device recall on December 5, 2023, for its Covidien and Cardinal Health™ brand urology and operating room-specific kits and trays that contain 0.9% sodium chloride irrigation USP and sterile water for irrigation USP supplied by Nurse Assist. Under the Nurse Assist voluntary recall, this product is being recalled due to the potential for a lack of sterility assurance which could result in non-sterile product.” 19
  • 2/5/24 – Drugs – Arize brand male enhancement capsules – Products contain undeclared Nortadalafil.
    • “OR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Feb 2, 2024 – VANCOUVER, WA, “Today The World” is voluntarily recalling one lot of Arize Herbal Dietary Supplement capsules to the consumer level. FDA analysis has found the products to contain undeclared Nortadalafil (structurally similar to Tadalafil). Nortadalafil is an active drug ingredient known for treatment of male erectile dysfunction. The presence of Nortadalafil in Arize makes this an unapproved new drug for which the safety and efficacy has not been established and, therefore subject to recall.” 20

  • 2/9/24 – Food – Details of this public health alert were updated to reflect additional products affected by the dairy products that have been recalled due to possible Listeria Monocytogenes contamination.
    • “The problem was discovered when the establishments notified FSIS that they used FDA-regulated dairy products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes to produce the poultry products. FDA is continuing its investigation into the dairy products produced by Rizo-Lopez Foods.” 21
  • 2/7/24 – Food – Frozen ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken pilaf product that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically rocks.
    • “The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that it received multiple consumer complaints of rocks in the chicken pilaf. One consumer reported a dental injury from consuming the product.” 22
