  • 2/29/24 – Food & Beverage – Red Velvet Milk Chocolate Bars – Due to Undeclared Milk.
    • “The recall was initiated after a consumer reported the issue to the retailer where they had purchased the affected item. The milk-containing product was distributed in packaging identified with the allergen on the front panel display however it did not reveal the presence of milk in the ingredient list as required.” 1
  • 2/29/24 – Medical Devices – Mega Soft Universal and Universal Plus Reusable Patient Return Electrodes – Limit use to patients aged 12 years or older.
    • “Cincinnati, OH – February 29, 2024 On December 8, 2023, Megadyne issued a Class 1 Medical Device Correction to hospitals to limit the use of MEGA SOFT Universal and Universal Plus Reusable Patient Return Electrodes to patients aged 12 years or older after receiving reports of adult and pediatric patient burns following surgical procedures in which MEGA SOFT pads were used. These reports of patient burn injuries described up to and including third-degree burns requiring intervention which may lead to prolonged hospital stay, scarring, and additional surgeries in both pediatric and adult patients. Severe burns could lead to potentially long-lasting impacts on patients especially under the age of 12 years.” 2
  • 2/28/24 – Food & Beverage – Tahini – Potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
    • “The recall was as the result of a routine sampling program by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, which revealed that the product tested positive for Salmonella. The company has ceased distribution of the product and has initiated an investigation in partnership with the manufacturer as to the root cause of the problem.” 3
  • 2/27/24 – Medical Devices – MIC* Gastric-Jejunal Feeding Tube Kits – Potential Lack of Sterility Assurance.
    • “The Nurse Assist voluntary recall was initiated due to concerns about the potential lack of sterility assurance in these water-based products. This deficiency may lead to non-sterile products, posing a risk of the water coming into contact with a patient’s surgical site. Any open wound exposed to non-sterile products could potentially put the patient at risk of infection. The pre-filled syringe is the only item in the Avanos feeding tube kit affected by the Nurse Assist recall.” 4

    • “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 12 February, 2024 – Thane, Maharashtra, India, Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. is voluntarily recalling Eye Ointment products listed in the table below with expiration date ranging from February 2024 to September 2025. The products are being recalled due to lack of sterility assurance at the facility noted during an inspection conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).” 5

    • “The problem was discovered after the firm received complaints from consumers reporting they found hard plastic in Trader Joe’s steamed chicken soup dumplings.” 6
  • 2/29/24 – Food – Raw Meat Products – Contaminated by Non-Food Grade Substance.
    • “The problem was discovered after the firm received four complaints from restaurants reporting a chemical taste in the meat products. After investigating, the firm determined that its mineral oil supplier sent them a drum containing non-food grade mineral seal oil labeled as food grade mineral oil. The non-food grade mineral seal oil was applied to food contact surfaces and not directly to the meat products.” 7
