  • 9/25/24 – Food & Beverage – Trail Mix with peanuts, pretzels, and crackers – Undeclared Almonds and Cashews.
    • “The recall was initiated on September 23, 2024 after a customer noticed an incorrect cup. The firm discovered that the tree nut-containing product was distributed in mislabeled packaging that did not reveal the presence of almonds and cashews. The product inside the cup could be Healthy Trails Mix which contains raisins, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and cashews.

Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.” 1

  • 9/23/24 – Animal & Veterinary – Beef and Chicken Dog Foods – Due to Potential Salmonella and Listeria.
    • “Pet Food of Fleetwood, PA, is voluntarily withdrawing certain lots of ANSWERS Detailed Beef Formula for Dogs, ANSWERS Straight Beef Formula for Dogs, and ANSWERS Straight Chicken Formula for Dogs out of an abundance of caution after samples collected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration were reported to have tested positive for the presence of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses associated with these lots have been confirmed. Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Listeria monocytogenes rarely causes illness in dogs, but it is possible. Dogs can have mild symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. Even if a dog is not showing symptoms, it can still be a carrier of the bacteria and spread it to humans.

If a dog has  consumed a product lot identified below, pet parents are encouraged to consult their veterinarian if symptoms exist.” 2

  • 9/23/24 – Drugs – Veklury (remdesivir) for Injection – Due to Presence of Glass Particle.
    • “Gilead Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: GILD) today announced it is issuing a voluntary recall of one lot of Veklury® (remdesivir) for Injection 100 mg/vial, to the consumer level. Gilead received a customer complaint and confirmed the presence of a glass particle in the vial during the company’s investigation. 3

  • 9/27/24 – Food – Ready-to-Eat Fried Pork Skin – Misbranding and undeclared allergens.
    • “The problem was discovered during routine FSIS in-plant verification activities when FSIS personnel observed that a seasoning containing soy, a known allergen, was being used as an ingredient and soy was not declared on the finished product label.” 4
